Antigone and Her Sentence

The watchman brought Antigone to Creon, fully knowing what her fate would be because he wanted to get himself off the hook. The watchman was being selfish by choosing to save his own neck by turning in this young girl. But Antigone surprised everyone by not running away and not denying any of the accusations.
Antigone knew what the punishment would be but she was brave and stood up for what she believed in and burying her dead brother. But even the townsfolk disagreed with this punishment, it is such a harsh punishment for a crime done to the king's own kin. But Creon promised this punishment to anyone who disobeyed and now must follow through or risk loosing his authority over his country.
Antigone, when brought to the King, said it was her duty to take care of her dead brother, and it should have been Creon's duty too, but he choose to defend his country over kinship. She knew what she was doing was the right thing to do and was ready to support her cause at whatever cost, it would be a noble death.
